Austin Film Festival & Writers Conference

Presented by Austin Film Festival at Downtown Austin

This fall, Austin Film Festival is bringing some normalcy back to the world by reopening their physical doors and doing what they do best: hosting an in-person Writers Conference. AFF will once again present four full days of enlightening panel conversations and discussions on the art, craft, and business of screenwriting with some of the industry’s biggest names. The panelist roster features luminaries such as Peter Craig (The Batman), Javier Grillo-Marxuach (Lost), Meg LeFauve (Inside Out), Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy), Glen Mazzara (The Walking Dead), and many, many more. AFF is also honored to welcome Scott Frank, writer/director of The Queen’s Gambit, as our “Bill Wittliff Award for Screenwriting” recipient.

The festival includes eight days of film screenings highlighting some of the best emerging talent and premieres of studio films as part of its marquee programming. Additionally, the week will be full of unique networking opportunities such as the Film & Food Fundraising Party, Pitch Competition, and Awards Luncheon. To complement the in-person offerings this fall, AFF is offering a virtual badge including a selection of panels and films recorded at the festival for those who cannot attend in person.

Admission Info

AFF offers several Badge levels for entry into our October festival. Badge holders not only have priority entry into all eight days of films, they also receive entry into Conference Panels (days dependent on badge level).
