Texas Rising Stars

Presented by Austin Civic Orchestra at Bates Recital Hall

The ACO returns to Bates Recital Hall at the University of Texas for the 4th annual Texas Rising Stars Concert. The concert combines the best of the Austin community orchestras with the best from the Butler School of Music string studios in a collaborative concert free of charge to the Austin community.

The concert opens with Beethoven’s Prometheus Overture, then moves to concerti featuring as soloists the winners of the annual Butler School of Music String Concerto Competition. On the second half of the concert, guest organist Storm Knien will perform in Walter Piston’s Prelude and Allegro for Organ and Orchestra, and the orchestra will follow with the Second Essay for Orchestra by Samuel Barber.

Come experience the talent of these young artists who are on the precipice of a career in music with ACO members who have a life-long dedication to music in Bates Recital Hall, one of the premiere performance spaces in Austin. Admission is free.
