The GRA Rock-A-Rama

Presented by Girls Rock Austin at Online/Virtual Space

Episode 1, Livestream Airdate: December 19, 2020 at 8 PM

Parental/Viewer Warning: As we will be discussing mature topics regarding sex and sexual health, we recommend parents and guardians co-viewing this segment with their teens under the age of 18. Viewer discretion is advised.

Musical Performances by 12-time Austin Music Award winner and 2020 Latin Grammy Nominee for Best Pop/Rock Album, Gina Chavez as well “The Empress of Austin Soul” and winner of the Best Female Vocalist at 2017 Austin Chronicle’s Austin Music Awards, Tameca Jones plus Trouble in the Streets, who were named the “Best New Band” at the 2018 Austin Chronicle’s Austin Music Awards and were the recipients of the 2018 Black Fret Society grant.

This episodes ATX celebrity discussion panel on “Self-Care and Sexual Health” Panel led by Dr. Uchenna “UC” Ossai, creator of the adult sex ed course, “Woke is the New Sexy.” Dr. UC is assistant professor at the University of Texas Dell Medical School and Pelvic Health Program Manager at UT Health Austin, and spends her days treating people with both sexual and pelvic floor dysfunction, and her evenings educating the masses on everything that has to do with “sexytime.” When it comes to sexual intelligence and great sex education, UC embraces always being unapologetically real, happily crunk, and deliciously kind.Joining Dr. UC on the panel discussion will be Sensual Embodiment Specialist, Member of the American Dance Therapy Association, and former dancer for Beyoncè, Lily Shepard, along with musical guests, Gina Chavez, Tameca Jones and NNEDI of Trouble in the Streets.

We know talking about sensitive topics can make us feel silly, so we just plan to go with the flow and keep the laughs coming throughout the show with a comedic stand-up performance by Austin’s own Sam Noorani, as seen on Laugh Exchange Live, That Time of the Month, and The Coven.

The GRA Rock-A-Rama closes with a fun game of musical trivia, ranging from cool and useful GRA swag (like facemasks, mugs, T-Shirts and socks) to a life-sized chicken purse or a virtual cheese tasting from Austin vegan deli and wine shop, Rebel Cheese. One lucky winner will lay claim to the grand prize: a first-run opening day viewing of Wonder Woman 1984 on a 15ft screen right in their own yard at sunset on Christmas Day, provided by Austin’s own, Catalina Drive-In.
