Austin, TX – Central Texas’ most well-known children’s theatre company, Pollyanna Theatre in Strategic Alliance with the Long Center, presents PATTERN PEOPLE by playwright Emily Cicchini, January 23 – 31 at the Rollins Studio Theatre at the Long Center for the Performing Arts, 701 West Riverside, Austin, TX  78704.

Created to engage children pre-K through 2nd grades, PATTERN PEOPLE is a fun-filled, 45-minute  theatrical exploration of pre-literacy skills. Cicchini creates four characters who explore what different people in the world do to keep their communities humming along, and the resulting effects when these daily ‘patterns’ of behavior are broken.

Judy Matetzschk-Campbell, Ph.D., Founder and Artistic Director of Pollyanna Theatre is proud to open Pollyanna’s season with this particular production, “Pattern People is the newest play in our series for young children that focuses on pattern recognition. Without the ability to recognize patterns, young people cannot begin to understand basic math or reading skills. Patterns are the building blocks of learning, and patterns in human behavior are also important for young children to recognize.

In Pattern People, Pollyanna explores on stage two very important concepts: patterns found in families, and the world of opposities. When combined in Pattern People, the result is a fun exploration of what it means to be a unique family unit and how recognizing and valuing opposites is so very important.”

As with all Pollyanna productions, the characters are portrayed by adult, professional actors. Pattern People features veteran Austin actors Craig Kanne, Aaron Alexander, Bethany Harbaugh and Ayen-Anh Dang.

In addition to public performances, UNDER THE BIG TOP is also available for schools, daycare centers and camps throughout Central Texas.
