"Educating Beethoven" Virtual Concert

Presented by Austin Symphony Orchestra at Online/Virtual Space

School is in session! Considered one of the greatest composers of all time, Beethoven studied with many talented artists, two of which were Antonio Salieri and Joseph Haydn. Now ASO classmates come together to highlight these A+ teachers in Haydn’s Sinfonia concertante and Sinfonia in D Major by Antonio Salieri. To help bring these pieces to life we look no further than a quartet comprised of Jessica Mathaes, violin; Douglas Harvey, cello; Julianne Webner, oboe and William Lewis, bassoon!  Three additional works on the program are composed by the top student himself, Beethoven.

PROGRAM:

LUDWIG van BEETHOVEN: Zapfenstreich March, WoO 20
LUDWIG van BEETHOVEN: Three Equali, WoO 30
ANTONIO SALIERI: Sinfonia in D Major, Veneziana
FRANZ JOSEPH HAYDN: Sinfonia concertante in B-flat Major, op.84, Hob.I:105
LUDWIG van BEETHOVEN: Symphony No. 2 in D Major, Op. 36

Concert is available starting October 2 at 7PM to Friday, October 9.
