Spectrum Theatre Company Presents: A Night with Spectrum/A Tribute to Boyd Vance

Spectrum Theatre Company is embarking on their most aggressive fundraiser to date for one night only, January 17, 2016 on stage at Austin Playhouse.  The night will be filled with greater Austin’s most renowned artists and influencers as we take a look back at the many contributions of Austin’s icon, Boyd Vance and a look at Spectrum’s 2016-2017 play season.

“Through the theater, Boyd wanted to keep the African American experience in the forefront in Austin,” -Dewy Brooks, Co-Founder Pro Arts Collective/Austin Creative Alliance, Vice Chair/ Spectrum Theatre Company, Board Member.

You’ll enjoy electrifying performances from Spectrum’s company of actors, as well as guest features from Pamela Hart, State Rep. Dawnna Dukes, Marco Perella, and the Huston-Tillotson Music Department. Our emcee for the evening is Austin’s own, Billy Brooks from “Ester’s Follies”.  An elegant reception will follow the show, and there will be ample opportunity throughout the evening to provide financial support to Spectrum Theatre Company.  Come out and be a part of Spectrum’s vision to share the many stories that emanate from the African American experience.

“Early on, when I was just acting, I noticed that there was an absence of African Americans in the local theater scene, especially in positions of power: producers, directors — people who can make things happen, so it became my goal to make the system more representative of people who look like me.” – Boyd Vance, Austin American Statesman.

Tickets are $50 for individuals and $85 for couples. You may purchase tickets on-line at www.spectrumatx.org . Performance starts at 8:15 pm, doors open at 7:30 pm.  Austin Playhouse is located at 6001 Airport Boulevard (inside Highland Mall).
