Virtual Script Reading: The Honey Pot

Virtual Script Reading: The Honey Pot

Presented by Austin Film Festival at Online/Virtual Space

Film Synopsis:
Bob Turnbull is not a natural politician. In fact, he’s a forty-something accountant married to an ambitious social climbing wife [Jan]. When he’s clandestinely filmed during a sexual encounter with two prostitutes and blackmailed into murdering a rival candidate he enlists the help of his political consultant [Coop Potemkin] to help find a way out.
Together Bob and Coop have to find the source of the secret sex tape and the political powers behind it.  Along the way they grapple with the ethical issues embedded in contemporary party politics and the line between clever political strategy and outright murder.
A satirical black comedy, THE HONEY POT quickly turns darker when the potential victim turns out to be the most likable and genuine potential public servant imaginable.
A relentless politico/noir tale, THE HONEY POT moves at the speed of a comic thriller, twisting the plot and the audience into uncomfortable contortions that get to the essence of modern political truth without all that tiresome sanctimonious guilt.
