Gay Chorus Deep South: Digital Film Screening and Q&A with Director

Presented by Dougherty Arts Center at Online/Virtual Space

The Dougherty Arts Center is proud to host a special free digital screening of “Gay Chorus Deep South”, winner of the Tribeca Film Festival Audience Award, followed by a post screening Q&A with director David Charles Rodrigues. Registration is required to participate.

In response to a wave of discriminatory anti-LGBTQ laws and the divisive 2016 election, the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus embarks on a tour of the American Deep South.  Led by Gay Chorus Conductor Dr. Tim Seelig and joined by The Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir; the tour brings a message of music, love and acceptance to communities and individuals confronting intolerance. The conversations and connections that emerge offer a glimpse of a less divided America, where the things that divide us—faith, politics, sexual identity—are set aside by the soaring power of music, humanity, and a little drag.

Meet director David Charles Rodrigues during our online Q&A post screening and dive deeper into the making of Gay Chorus Deep South on Tuesday, June 16 at 7pm. Only those who have registered on Eventbrite will be given access to this event.

This film is rated TV-14 for some language and may not be suitable for younger audiences. Viewer discretion is advised.
