Viceroys, a black-owned artist collective, launches their inaugural mark in the theatre community with “Topdog/Underdog,” a two-man drama, presenting a gripping tale of sibling rivalry at the peak of eruption.
Jarrett King and Matthew Frazier are both noted performers in Austin and New York City, respectively. Together, they co-founded Viceroys to create opportunity for artists of color through roles that directly tackle societal norms.
“Topdog/Underdog” received the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 2002, and playwright Suzan-Lori Parks recently became the first African American woman awarded the 22nd $300,000 Gish Prize, in recognition of artists who have made an extraordinary impact.
