Walking Woody’ Road captures the timeless heart, wit, soul, and spirit of the legendary singer/songwriter, guitarist, poet, author, artist, philosopher, and thinker, Woody Guthrie. In a performance that has been called ‘nothing short of brilliant,‘ renowned Austin, Texas singer/songwriter Jimmy LaFave brings a stellar cast of performers to assist him in paying tribute to the quintessential hard times troubadour The mission is to keep Guthrie’s spirit alive for future generations…everyone should hear Guthrie’s words and feel his spirit. These artists are carrying on the torch for a man with a simple, but profound message.

Jimmy LaFave is an American singer-songwriter/folk musician and regular at the annual Woody Guthrie Folk Festival. He has received the Kerrville Folk Festival Songwriter of the Year Award and recorded 15 albums – his 2007 release, Cimarron Manifesto, reached the No. 1 mark on the Americana Music Association album chart.

Eliza Gilkyson is a politically minded, poetically gifted singer-songwriter who has become one of the most respected musicians in Folk and Americana music circles.  The big buzz at Folk Alliance this year was around Lance Canales, who had everyone on the edge of their seats as he stomped across the stage delivering a stark blues twang-and-thump set that sounded like it had been born somewhere between a back alley and a field worker’s camp. If this isn’t authentic roots music then we don’t know what is.

Walking Woody’ Road is a musical event that should be experienced by music lovers of all ages and backgrounds. It captures the timeless heart, wit, soul and spirit of the legendary singer-songwriter, poet, artist, and thinker: Woody Guthrie. His insights, stories, and music traverse the emotional spectrum and resonate through the years so that we don’t forget.
