The practices of yoga and writing both help us cultivate a relationship to our own authentic selves, and invite us to enter the flow and savor our lives as they are. In this 6-class series, we will explore the tools and teachings of yoga to help us develop a nourishing writing practice. Each class will include discussion, movement, and a writing practice, as well as a weekly writing challenge based on the material covered in class.
Participants will be given a manual of resources, including writing prompts, and will be added to a private Facebook group for inspiration and support throughout the training and beyond. This is not a creative writing workshop: your work will not be read or critiqued in class, or by the instructor. This course is an invitation to explore the joy and benefits of the act of writing itself.
Topics explored in this workshop will include:
-Setting an intention for your practice
-Connecting to our own authentic nature
-Cultivating our breath & voice
-Getting comfortable with discomfort
-The importance of ritual and repetition
-Finding joy & freedom in discipline (tapas)
-Learning to reveal ourselves on the page (svadhyaya)
-Surrender to Source (Isvara-pranidhana)
