The Foundations of Yin Yoga with Jenn Wooten and Laura Forsyth

The Foundations of Yin Yoga with Jenn Wooten and Laura Forsyth

Presented by Yoga Yoga at Yoga Yoga Westlake

In this special 20-hour course, open to yoga teachers and interested students, we’ll explore an approach to asana called “Yin” Yoga.

In this mindful and deliberate practice, we work with the “cooler” yin tissues of the body, most specifically the connective tissues of the joints & ligaments, the bones, and the fascial network of the body. The poses are held seated or lying down for several minutes at a time with minimal to no muscular engagement. Each pose is followed by a minute of integrative rest. By creating deliberate stresses on the yin tissues they becoming stronger and more supple. This approach, practiced intelligently, has the potential to slowly unravel long held patterns in the body and restore optimal health and balanced movement in the joints.

In addition to the physical benefits, we will explore the more subtle benefits revealed in the energetic pathways that align with the connective tissues. As we traction these tissues and gently compress and release different regions of the skeletal system, we encourage a more unobstructed flow energy just as if we were to kink a water hose, then release and allow a strong current of water to flush through the system.
