The GRA Rock Retreat welcomes women, trans and non-binary individual ages 18+ to learn basic instrument skills and expand on existing ones, form bands, write songs, take creative risks, and support each other.
This three day retreat includes instrument instruction, workshops, coached band practice, and social events, culminating in the GRA Rock Retreat Showcase where participants perform their original songs with their new bands in front of a live audience Monday, February 18th at 8 PM at Barracuda, (611 E. 7th St.) in Downtown Austin, where they’ll open for legendary Austin rockers, Butch County and art-rock royalty, Whit.
Instrument instruction available for Guitar, Bass, Drums, Keys and Vocals. Workshops include Songwriting, Stage/Sound Setup, Self-Defense, Punk Rock Yoga, plus over two hours of band practice each day. As always, no musical experience is necessary. GRA will provide all instruments and instruction. All you have to do is show up ready to rock! Breakfast and lunch will be provided for all three days as well as special lunchtime performances by synth-pop-punk sensation, Stretch Panic, and ethereal pop-rock delight, Suna.
While you are rockin’ out, you’ll also be sending a young rocker to GRA to have their own life-changing experience. That’s right, play in a band for a weekend, and your tuition helps provide scholarships and financial aid for youth to attend summer camp!
