Inversion Ensemble presents Aether: Fire—passion/psyche

The innovative and critically acclaimed choral group, Inversion Ensemble, explores the four alchemical elements of Earth, Air, Fire and Water in its fourth season, Aether. On February 29 and March 1, 2020, Inversion Ensemble presents the concert “Fire—passion/psyche,” exploring how this element can both provide warmth and destruction and how it represents the human experience through passion and the psyche. Adding to Inversion Ensemble’s tally of 64 world premières, the concert features “your little voice” by Anuj Bhutani (selected through Carlos Cordero’s Happy Composer project) as well as brand new works written for Inversion Ensemble by Austin composers Trevor Villwock, Marjorie Halloran, Joshua Chai, Adrienne Inglis, Robbie LaBanca and Artistic Director Trevor F. Shaw. Inversion Ensemble presents this concert in partnership with the National Alliance on Mental Illness Central Texas, which will receive a portion of the proceeds. Guest conductor is Clinton Bray. Don’t miss this evocative, thought-provoking program of new music.

Austin’s Inversion Ensemble is a choral collective made up of composers and singers formed to give voice to innovative choral works and to encourage the creation of new music. A great deal of our repertoire is written especially for Inversion Ensemble by composers who sing within the ranks of the ensemble. While many members of Inversion Ensemble perform, conduct, compose, study, and teach music full-time, the group also includes non-professional participants who are passionate about choral music and help to ensure it thrives as a modern art form.
