ABOUT HOME STREET MUSIC
Home Street Music uses music gatherings to empower people who have lived on the streets of Austin. Through the healing power of song, we help people build community, restore confidence, and reclaim dignity.
Led by Austin musicians, each 90-minute gathering includes jam circles, sing-alongs, fun activities and opportunities to share individual work. Held at Community First! Village, Home Street Music encourages self-expression, sharing, and creativity.
The first program of its kind, Home Street Music was created in 2017 by Vanessa Lively, a long-time Austin resident, musician, artist, and community activist. Home Street Music empowers people who have experienced homelessness by building community, restoring confidence, and reclaiming dignity through the healing power of song. Since summer 2017, the nonprofit has held weekly music gatherings at Community First! Village.
