This hands-on workshop is for teachers and arts educators looking to build their toolkit in inclusive education.
As increasing percentages of students with disabilities are educated in inclusive settings, there is a growing recognition that arts educators are at the forefront of inclusive practice. This is in no small part because the arts setting offers unique opportunities to naturally employ multi-modal and differentiated instructional strategies—strategies that promote social, artistic, and academic inclusion and the individualized instruction that is required under special education law. This hands-on workshop will empower arts educators to lead in inclusive education by providing a practical framework for understanding disability, easy-to-implement strategies for promoting meaningful inclusion of special education students, and an opportunity to create an inclusion plan tailored to your unique setting!
