Celebrating Tapestry’s 30th Birthday with an exciting and thought-provoking concert with Tapestry’s current company dancing to the works of headliners who started their professional career with Tapestry!
Tapestry Dance Company, under the direction of co-founder Acia Gray is the worlds only full-time, professional repertory tap dance company and is celebrating its 30th Anniversary Season! Professional dancers from around the world audition for this company and have shared the power of rhythm and dance not only in Austin but through major presenters around the US and abroad.
This season, the company will premiere Looking Forward/Looking Back – a tribute to the company’s history, legacy, and future with alumni dancers returning to choreograph new works on the company including Nicholas Van Young (Associate Director of Dorrance Dance), Tasha Lawson (TriTone Productions – Calgary Alberta Canada), Jason Janas (acclaimed master teacher and choreographer worldwide), Jeremy Arnold (University of Texas Dance Faculty), Matthew Shields (Post Modern Jukebox and HyperFeet) and Siobhan Alexis (2008-2019)!
Come celebrate the company’s 30th Birthday with award-winning production designer Stephen Pruitt and Artistic Director Acia Gray – LF/LB will be in the round in the Long Center’s Rollins theatre with visual archive memories and the beautiful gifts of new choreography (yes – all artists donated their services as a gift to Tapestry’s 30th Birthday!). An exciting and thought-provoking concert with Tapestry’s current company (current members from Australia, Colorado, Pennsylvania, Brazil, and Texas) dancing to the works of some of the company’s brightest stars – the tap headliners who started their professional career with Tapestry!
