About the Book:
The Texas Ranch Sisterhood: Portraits of Women Working the Land by Alyssa Banta provides an intimate look at the lives of female ranchers in Texas.
Recognizing the societal tendency to stereotype ranchers as male, Banta focuses exclusively on the women that work alongside those men. Through her balance of photography and writing, Banta presents the stories and experiences of thirteen
women who have dedicated their lives to the land. Banta spent more than a year following these women: staying in their homes, working alongside in their fields, experiencing life like they do every day. The Texas Ranch Sisterhood provides a unique opportunity for readers to understanding the roles of women on the ranches that stretch across the great state of Texas.
