This month’s Pon Di Beat masterclass features a dance class from viral choreographer Meka Oku! We hope to see you for this event and for the rest of the 2019 Pon Di Beat series.

PON DI BEAT:

AFROBEATS with MEKA brings you the hottest AFRO dance moves from all over Africa filled with fun, energy, passion and lots of laughs.

In addition to our regularly scheduled class this month we will be launching our Pon Di Beat After Dark experience!

PON DI BEAT AFTER DARK is a monthly two hour afro dance and dancehall experience with a live DJ and guest choreographer. It features a one hour grooves class followed by a Community Jam session.

PDB GROOVES SESSION:

Our 60 minute Grooves experience is a follow the leader style class with our guest choreographer and a live DJ! This month’s class we will be learning afro grooves session with guest choreographer Meka Oku.

PDB COMMUNITY JAM

The party continues in our 60 minute jam session. Our resident DJ, DiiJay Ray will play dancehall and Afro tunes as you show off the new moves you’ve learned earlier in the day!

Can’t make it to the earlier classes? Not to worry – our community jam session is for anyone and EVERYONE that wants to come enjoy the laid back atmosphere and fun!

ABOUT YOUR INSTRUCTOR:

MEKA OKU is a Nigerian-born dancer from a musically inclined household. He became highly influenced by Michael Jackson’s unique and distinct way of movement, which sparked his interest towards dance at an early age. While keeping a strong core in his inherent style of dance commonly known as “Afrobeats”, Meka was able to learn Hip-Hop and bits of Dancehall on his own which makes him a self-taught dancer.

Meka found love for choreography through his exceptional Afrobeats and Dancehall inspired style of movement and this has allowed him to Choreograph for A-list Artists Including Psquare and Selebobo. Meka, always a student of the arts, continues to share his art and cultural experiences with a smile for all who embrace it, for the love of Afrobeats.

WHAT IS PON DI BEAT:

Pon Di Beat brings the best Dancehall and Afrobeat dance and dance fitness to Texas in 2019. Every month top choreographers in Dancehall and Afrobeat styles are coming to Texas to give you 2 jam packed all levels classes! Classes will take place in Austin and Houston Texas!
