The Neill-Cochran House Museum is excited to announce an open house and chamber concert to mark the conclusion of the second phase of its major restoration project. In collaboration with Felicity Coltman, founder and former artistic director of the Austin Chamber Music Center, the chamber music program for trio will interleave baroque and classical compositions with Texan folk songs in order to feature the historic house doing what it was designed to do 160 years ago: entertain Austinites.

The Neill-Cochran House sat outside of the city limits for close to a quarter of its 160 year history before UT quite literally put the West Campus neighborhood on the map. During its social heyday in the 1870s, it hosted congressmen and prominent Austinites. This concert and open house brings that history to life.

The museum will be open for informal tours and conversations with staff before and after the 7 pm performance. Complimentary wine, cheese, and light fare are included with admission.

This event celebrates the conclusion of a $400,000 restoration project. Together with a previous project in 2012, the interior and exterior of the 1855 house and its grounds are currently in incomparable condition. As one of only a handful of pre-civil war historic sites open to the public in the city, the Neill-Cochran House Museum strives to connect Austinites and visitors to Austin’s early origins. This concert aims to make the house a truly lived-in and vibrant environment for patrons to experience a window on the 19th roots of modern Austin.

Tickets are available online or at the door for $25 to general public, $20 to Friends of the Neill-Cochran House Museum and $15 for students with valid ID.
