Please join Austin Creative Alliance and the Dougherty Arts Center to hear two experts discuss the matter of health insurance for artists and arts nonprofits.

Post panel discussion will include an opportunity to mix, mingle, and discuss with your colleagues in the creative field.  Come check out a new art exhibit in the Julia C. Butridge Gallery. Additionally, the gallery will display the work of 3 Wimberley Abstractionists, a fiscally sponsored project of ACA.

Speaker Bios

Elizabeth Colvin directs the Insure Central Texas program for Foundation Communities.  Prior to launching the health insurance enrollment program in 2013, she created and managed free tax preparation programs in Austin and Houston.  She is licensed to practice law in Texas and began her career as a labor and employment lawyer, representing employees and union members.

 

Jim Rodriguez is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives, President-Elect and Chair (2016) for the Board of Directors of the National Forum for Latino Healthcare Executives, member of the Health & Wellness Committee for the Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and Treasurer of the Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Foundation.  Jim has served in senior leadership positions with private and public medical centers, an outpatient hospital, community mental health organizations, provider-owned HMOs, PPOs and a Medicare Advantage Plan. His expertise includes start-up and turn-around challenges with and between insurers and providers.  His efforts in Texas have been featured in the Wall Street Journal, Kaiser Network, California Healthline, Texas Health Plan Analysis and the Brian Lehrer Report (radio show in New York) among others.  He speaks at national conferences regarding 3-share plans, managed care contracting and other health related topics.
