Local-Memory: Digital Exhibit Update and Live Interview Recording

Please join us on Sunday, September 29th, at 3 pm for an update on our Local-Memory digital history project and a live recording of an interview with Dan Foster, fiddler and scholar.

Dr. Michael Schmidt will discuss updates to the Local-Memory digital history exhibit and his new research on the history of Western Swing in Austin between 1940 and 1955. After the update, he and Joe Dobbs, musician and librarian, will interview Dan Foster about the Texas fiddle tradition and Mr. Foster’s research on the the African American fiddle tradition in Texas. The interview will be recorded for inclusion in future digital history exhibits.
