“After graduation Rotterdam University of Arts (Codarts) as a theater director (2013), Den Haag Royal Conservatory composition and sonology department (2011), Chicago Columbia University film music (2008, special programm), Moscow conservatory (2007) as a composer, organ player and koto player, working with impro, jazz, pop, rock musician, dancers, collecting the folk songs in the folk expeditions, writing music for movies, animations, theater, performances, computer games, moving from on place to another, I discovered that the roots started to call me and my childhood dreams of what is all about, raised up and I just had to follow them and start to approach the music from the beginning again.”

“Electric Minatures” consists of seventy-two one minute electro-acoustic pieces compiled over a ten year period and designed to be played back at random on a CD player. For this performance, two CD players will diffuse two copies of the program at random through a four speaker dual stereo setup arranged around the audience. The minatures started as recordings of clarinet, bass clarinet, prepared guitar, cello, squeaking chairs, Beethoven LPs, voice, cat purrs and other sources. These recordings were then creatively transformed into drones which empathize hidden harmonics and patterns within the acoustic sounds.

For 19 years, brekekekexkoaxkoax has been the primary sound art project of Josh Ronsen, sometimes solo and sometimes in close collaboration with many of Austin’s most creative musicians. A brekekekexkoaxkoax experience can include acousmatic noise from traditional chamber instruments to advanced computer programming, video/slide projections, dance, blindfolds, handphones (hand-mounted speakers), literature, performance art, foil, string. And of course paper. There is no common thread of reason which links all brekekekexkoaxkoax events. Instead, each one opens new methods of creativity, exploring new modes of internal (unconscious?) desire. http://ronsen.org/
