THE WAVERLY GALLERY is a loving but brutal, and often hilarious, story of the final years of a generous, chatty, life-force of a grandmother’s final battle against Alzheimer’s disease.
The play explores her fight to retain her independence and the effect of her decline on her family – especially her grandson. THE WAVERLY GALLERY was nominated in 2018 for two Tony Awards: Best Revival of a Play and Best Leading Actress in a Play for Elaine May. Ms. May won the Tony and both the play and May won Drama Desk awards.
The WAVERLY GALLERY is presented by The Alchemy Theatre, Directed by Michael Cooper. It is playing at The Mastrogeorge Theatre at 130 Pedernales in East Austin from September 12 through October 5. Tickets can be purchased at thealchemytheatre,org. Ticket prices are $32-$45.
