Out of Bounds Comedy Festival

at Various Locations

Out of Bounds Comedy Festival returns this Labor Day weekend with over 80 acts representing the best of standup, sketch, and improv comedy from both Austin and beyond. From 8/27 to 9/2, OOB performers will be taking the stage at 5 separate Austin venues (Hideout Theater, ColdTowne Theater, Fallout Theater, North Door, and The Velveeta Room), on 6 total stages, in events that match up Austin heavy-hitters with national acts. As a non-profit organization, OOB’s mission has always been to provide pathways for Austin comedians to land on the national stage and to craft a lineup that properly represents the eclectic and diverse creators behind its shows, all while drawing the larger Austin community’s attention to the massive wealth of talent regularly performing in their city all year long.

This year’s lineup represents that mission fully, with national acts Scott Adsit (30 Rock), Laura Kightlinger (SNL, Pen15), Craig Cackowski (Drunk History, Community) joining the headliner ranks alongside Lee Eddy (Day 5, Red vs. Blue) and Vanessa Gonzalez (HBO Latino, Comedy Central Presents). Improv giants and sketch legends Jill Bernard (Huge Theater, Minneapolis), Rich Talarico (SNL, MadTV, Key & Peele), and Dasariski (in their 4th OOB appearance since 2006) will also be joining the lineup, along with the acclaimed Austin troupes and shows Bigfoot: The Musical (written by Amber Ruffin of Late Night with Seth Meyers and fresh off a sold-out 6-week run at ColdTowne), Loverboy, SheSheSheShe, Friends for Now, Fuck this Week, Girls Girls Girls, FLOW: Funny Ladies of Wrestling, Super Black, and many more. Austin standups Carina Magyar, Ky Krebs, and Nikita Redkar join a large number of local and national comedians sharing microphones at showcase events throughout the week.

In an enhanced effort to provide career opportunities to local performers, OOB is also hosting a Just for Laughs (JFL) Character Showcase this year as a chance for Austin-based comedians to submit to live audition for the juggernaut comedy fest, which helped jump-start the
careers of Kevin Hart, Amy Schumer, Ali Wong, and Pete Davidson, to name a few. OOB also offers an extensive workshop program for those hoping to hone their craft with help from the greats, with this year’s teacher selection including Scott Adsit, Jill Bernard, Jill Eickmann,
Bob Dassie, and several others.

Full-access badges are currently on sale for the early bird price of $99 (regular price $129), and can be purchased along with individual show tickets ($10-$20) and workshop registrations at OOBfest.com. The festival will take place in Austin over Labor Day Weekend 2019 (8/27 – 9/2).
