Graham Reynolds'

Graham Reynolds' "MARFA A Country & Western Big Band Suite" Workshop Performance

Presented by Golden Hornet at Dive Bar & Lounge

MARFA: A Country & Western Big Band Suite was originally commissioned by Ballroom Marfa. The work, composed by Golden Hornet Artistic Director Graham Reynolds, merges instrumental country music and western soundtracks with a power jazz rhythm section, a classic string quartet, all alongside horns. In total, a fourteen member ensemble featuring legendary country guitarist Redd Volkaert (Merle Haggard), fiddle prodigy Ruby Jane, and ever-smiling pedal steel player Ricky Davis (Dale Watson).

Golden Hornet invites you to experience a taste of the project during the four weeks of FREE workshopping performances at LIVE AT DIVE this August! This workshop performance provides an intimate, laid-back, and raucous concert featuring Redd Volkaert on Guitar, Ricky Davis on Pedal Steel, Utah Hamrick on Bass, Jeremy Bruch on Drums, and Golden Hornet Artistic Director Graham Reynolds on Keys.

This event is totally free. No registration is required. Find more info or share with friends on Facebook. While all ages, please note that this is an active bar. The venue is ADA accessible but ALL attendees should be prepared for a cozy audience environment. You may even be right next to the drummer — this show is up close & personal!

This event is supported in part by Cultural Arts Division of the City of Austin Economic Development Department. Golden Hornet is grateful for the opportunities this division provides.
