High Noon Talk: Mexican American Civil Rights in Texas

High Noon Talk: Mexican American Civil Rights in Texas

Presented by Bullock Texas State History Museum at Bullock Texas State History Museum

After World War II, Mexican American veterans returned home and began a new struggle that would change the country over the next three decades. Join Dr. Maggie Rivas-Rodriguez for a discussion of her book Texas Mexican Americans and Postwar Civil Rights.  As founder and director of the Voces Oral History Project at the University of Texas School of Journalism,  Dr. Rivas-Rodriguez draws upon the vast resources of that collection to share this inspiring story. The accounts included in the book show how activists from Texas propelled the civil rights movement on local and national levels.

Enjoy lunch before or after the talk in the Story of Texas Café.
