The Prague based alternative performance group Post Industrial Artyšok is coming to Austin, Texas to host a weeklong devising workshop. The workshop explores the task based system of devising used by students and alumni of the Academy of Performing Arts Theatre Faculty (DAMU) for creating new works. It is broken into two sessions each day with a showing of works on the 13th of July. This workshop is to explore ways of making theatre through the post-dramatic methods used in the Prague alternative theatre scene and how it can be used and changed by Austin artists.
Morning: A site specific research and workshopping with the Prague artists to use the City of Austin as inspiration and material for making a new piece of theatre based on their time in the city.
Afternoon: exploring a different theme each day and using a specific task in the theme to create short performances. Each theme and task works with the question of how we use
material as an equal performance partner and not just a prop or tool to support the artist.
Workshop themes: Site specific, Object, and Improvisational Devising
Participants can join for either the entire workshop or choose days to attend.
Cost: Morning or Afternoon $30. One Day:$50 Whole Week: $200
