Maria Gamboa’s award-winning feature is a high stakes drama based on true events about teenagers in poor, violent neighborhoods of Colombia’s Magdalena River valley. 16-year-old Mateo works for his uncle by collecting extortion money, and is caught between his school’s efforts to reform him by involving him in a radical theater group, and pressure to join his uncle’s gang.
