THEREMIN: Invisible Music, Electronic History

THEREMIN: Invisible Music, Electronic History

Presented by City of Austin Cultural Arts Division at Santa Cruz Theater

Come celebrate the 100th anniversary of the invention of the worlds first electronic musical instrument, the Theremin. Enchantingly played without actually physically touching the instrument, but by moving ones hands within invisible electromagnetic fields. Developed originally to be played as a classical musical instrument, but also known as a purveyor of old-school Sci-fi movie sound effects. Join renown Thereminist Aileen Adler and friends, as she presents the Theremin as a diverse viable musical instrument. Live Theremin infused musical performances, educational workshop on how to play it, it’s function, and it’s sorted espionage history. Plus, a short film premier of “The Last Tea Party” an apocalyptic Theremin adventure.
