Exploring the in-between of signifiers and narrative, Leon Alesi and Bug Davidson cite ancestral lineage, uncomfortable compromise and abrasion of edges in this two person show at ICOSA Gallery. Using photography, moving image, installation, assemblage and found objects, these artists attempt to visualize an embrace of primordial truths, reckless erasure, inventive histories and contracts of coercion.
Leon Alesi is an artist based in Austin, Texas, who seeks connection and understanding via his creative practice, as a means of self preservation. Themes in his work include: cyclical time, fictional narrative, totemism, gentrification and urbanization.
Bug Davidson is a visual artist and theater/film director interested in communicating through visual language intersections of gender & representation, anti/social corporeal choreography, acousmata & action, and the enchantment of cinematic gesture.
