Building your public relations platform begins before and continues after a book is published. This class will help writers in all genres learn strategies for getting features in national magazines and media sources. After spending fifteen years in Manhattan and gaining features on her books and publishing projects in national magazines and newspapers and television, Isobella Jade also brings a strong DIY mantra about how far your reach can go. With the right angle, writers can get themselves and their book topic featured in major news sources in Texas and beyond. Class topics will include:

• Deciphering what is the media story in your manuscript or book and how to expand that into more angles
• Researching to be your own publicist and build a PR platform
• Crafting your correspondence
• Creating the right approach to get buzz and have your voice heard in relation to the topic and themes of your book.

Participants will be able to send Isobella (by emailing Program Director Michael Noll) their media pitch ahead of time for the possibility of using them as case studies.
