Country music legend Hal Ketchum has distinguished himself as a hitmaker with 15 Top Ten singles and five million albums sold. One of the most engaging performers on the American live music circuit, he has forged a singular presence in popular music thanks to vibrant talent and creativity, artistic integrity and natural soulfulness.
Hal started playing drums at age nine and by 14 was gigging at local bars. His professional start was at historic Gruene Hall, the virtual mother church of the Texas music scene where talents like George Strait, Lyle Lovett, and many others also began their rise to fame. Hal went on to national success by the 1990s with hits like ‘I Know What Love Is‘, ‘Hearts Are Gonna Roll‘ and ‘Small Town Saturday Night‘.
Ketchum’s latest offering I’m the Troubadour is the sound of an artist finding his own redemption in the strum of an acoustic guitar, the boom of a kick drum, and the trill of an upright piano. It’s an album inspired by years of struggle, performed by a songwriting legend who is glad to finally get his groove back.
