David Bromberg

David Bromberg

Presented by One World Theatre at One World Theatre

David Bromberg took up guitar at age 13 and studied musicology at Columbia University, but it was the downtown clubs and coffeehouses of the mid-1960s Greenwich Village folk scene where he really perfected his craft, watching and learning from performers like his inspiration and teacher, Reverend Gary Davis. Bromberg’s guitar skills didn’t go unnoticed, and he began accompanying a number of village folk acts both onstage and in the studio, including Tom Paxton, Tom Rush, Jerry Jeff Walker, and Richie Havens.

A strikingly gifted multi-instrumentalist (fiddle, acoustic and electric guitar, pedal steel guitar, mandolin, and dobro) with an intuitive understanding of American roots music styles and a sly sense of humor, David has earned a following for his many solo recordings and has served as a sideman and collaborator with some of the most respected artists in his field including Bob Dylan, Link Wray, The Eagles, Ringo Starr, Willie Nelson, and Carly Simon.

David is also a successful entrepreneur; he and his artist/musician wife, Nancy Josephson, own David Bromberg Fine Violins, a retail store and repair shop for high quality instruments in Wilmington, Delaware.
