ABRAHAM CRUZVILLEGAS: HI, HOW ARE YOU, GONZO? EXHIBITION ACTIVATION: CONSTRUCT YOUR MEDICINE

ABRAHAM CRUZVILLEGAS: HI, HOW ARE YOU, GONZO? EXHIBITION ACTIVATION: CONSTRUCT YOUR MEDICINE

Presented by The Contemporary Austin at The Contemporary Austin - Jones Center

An accessible medicine workshop featuring found, foraged, and grown plants led by western folk herbalist, artist, and educator Caroline Caswell. Participants are invited to construct their own herbal practice through thoughtful interactions with plant life and ecology. Come learn about local plants, invasive species, and abundant “weeds” that can be used medicinally. Each participant will be able to practice making their own personal medicinal tonic to take home with them. This workshop will discuss accessibility and focus on using plants and herbs commonly found in our kitchen cabinet, grocery store shelves, growing wild curbside, and easily planted ourselves. Please bring along a notebook, writing utensil and a small mason jar. No experience necessary.

Caroline Caswell is a graduate of the Clinical Intensive path at the Wildflower School of Botanical Medicine where she currently teaches. She also works in the Education Department at the American Botanical Council. Her herbal practice focuses on bioregional medicinals and thoughtful interactions with plant life and ecology. She is an advocate for affordable and accessible health care for all people and offers plant medicine and herbal consultations though her website.
