ABRAHAM CRUZVILLEGAS: HI, HOW ARE YOU, GONZO? BOWIE HIGH SCHOOL PERCUSSION ENSEMBLE

ABRAHAM CRUZVILLEGAS: HI, HOW ARE YOU, GONZO? BOWIE HIGH SCHOOL PERCUSSION ENSEMBLE

Presented by The Contemporary Austin at The Contemporary Austin - Jones Center

Abraham Cruzvillegas embraces the concept of autoconstrucción—loosely defined as “self-constructing”—in a vibrant artistic practice imbued with a sense of constant becoming, a curiosity to learn and share information.

Enjoy a musical performance from Bowie High School’s Percussion Ensemble. Each forty-minute performance will feature musical compositions by Carlos Chávez, Lou Harrison, Caleb Pickering, Benjamin Finley, and many others. There will also be opportunities to learn more about percussion instruments following the concert.

Celebrate local youth musicians, explore Abraham Cruzvillegas’s unique contemporary art exhibition — in which the sculptures become the stage and even instruments — and make connections with the community through music.
