When the world staggers between hope and chaos we begin with music and always have. With that in mind, Texas Choral Consort opens its season with Poems of Peace. TCC gives a world-premiere performance of Austin composer Russell Reed’s EntreLaNoche, a trilogy for chorus and orchestra based on the passionate poetry of San Juan de la Cruz. Also featured is Ralph Vaughan Williams’ ardent call to peace, Dona Nobis Pacem, which is paralleled by pacifist Civil War medic Walt Whitman’s texts. An orchestral work, Out of the Silence, by pioneering African American classical composer William Grant Still, will open the concert.
