Celebrate filmmaker Aida Barrera’s many contributions to bilingual education and cultural heritage, such as the first national bilingual TV program for children “Carrascolendas.”
“Carrascolendas” was the brainchild of filmmaker Aida Barrera. It became the first national bilingual television program for children. Premiering in 1970 on PBS, Barrera and the program went on to receive numerous accolades, including an Emmy Award nomination. Celebrate Barrera’s many contributions to bilingual education and cultural heritage.
