As we all recover from the overload of SXSW, the HONK!TX community organization prepares a local grassroots interactive band festival for us to unwind. Now in its 9th year, HONK!TX Festival of Community Street Bands  is gearing up. This year’s festival with play host to around 400 musicians, nearly half of whom are from out of town. Some coming from as far away as Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and San Salvador, El Salvador to share their music with the good people of Austin. This festival is completely free to attend, and has a variety of ways for you to participate. If you are a tiny human, there is the Pre-school of HONK! On Saturday March 30th at 11:30 AM, where toddlers and babies can play their own instruments along with Ms. Kat and the Hey Lolly Band (Sign up here). Instrument building at 11 AM, in the park. If you’re a little bit bigger and want to dust off your horn, you can join the HONK!TX Volunteer Band (sign up here). Join a street procession on Sunday March 31st at Noon! Volunteer to help things run smoothly any time during the event! Or come and dance like no one’s watching!  However you choose to participate, it’s sure to be fun for all!
