Free Songwriting Workshop presented by Home Street Music

Presented by Austin Public Library at Austin Public Library - Central Branch

Performing songwriters Dustin Welch and Vanessa Lively will lead an interactive workshop on songwriting. Together the instructors will guide participants through exercises, jams, and discussions about everything from technique to inspiration. No prior experience necessary. All genres encouraged. The workshop is best suited for adults and aspiring songwriters, but all ages are welcome. Light snacks and beverages provided.

RSVPs using Eventbrite are encouraged by not required.

Dustin Welch founded Soldier Songs and Voices, a program that hosts a weekly songwriting and guitar workshop veterans of the Armed Forces. Founded in 2011, Soldier Songs and Voices now has five chapters throughout the USA.

Vanessa Lively was honored with the 2017 “Artist Activist Award” from Music to Life. With this award, she fulfilled her lifelong dream of founding a music program that works directly with people who have experienced homelessness.

Parking

The library offers underground parking, with an entrance on West Avenue. Parking is not validated. If the lot is full try, City Hall or use your favorite parking app.

Home Street Music is a nonprofit music program that empowers people who have experienced homelessness. Through the healing power of song, we build community, restore confidence, and reclaim dignity through the healing power of song.
