Maslenitsa is an Eastern Slavic holiday, that among other things, celebrates the end of Winter with festivities and fun. Сome to enjoy the rich cultural offerings of this Slavic holiday!

If you want to see how Slavic Mardi Gras Maslenitsa was celebrated, be sure to watch the movie “The Barber of Siberia,” (Sibirskiy Tsirlyunik). The plot undergoes a wonderful twist during a raucous Maslenitsa celebration in Moscow.

This event is FREE and family-friendly. There will be Puppets theater, live music, dance, and fire show!

Sudarushki

The choir Sudarushki will present to the audience the reconstruction of the Russian rite ” Meeting of spring. ” Singers of the choir perform freckles-traditional songs-zaklichki calling for spring and Maslenitsa songs. The audience will not be bored. They will become participants of traditional entertainments.

Flying Balalaika Brothers

Balalaika Brothers during Maslenitsa will represent Eastern European and Romani cultures and will perform a variety of music, combining traditional folk with their original songs and compositions based on elements of contemporary music. The show is suitable for diverse audiences, making people dance and sing, bringing the great spirit of celebration of new uprising spring and the end of the winter.

Theatre KHOKHLOMA

You will be welcome to a trip into the magical world of dolls that move and talk – the Puppet Theatre KHOKHLOMA by United Russian American Association. The company performs colorful Russian folk tales and adapted classical plays that are easy to understand, even without knowing the language -because, the puppets truly come to life.

Austin Balkan Singers

A women’s choir performing traditional acapella folk songs of Eastern Europe. Group has been together since 1975 and welcomes new members interested in the joys of musical tradition, ancient and modern polyphony, and friendship.

Vishudolskaia Duo

Citizen Marchette DuBois has been an active performing artist in Seattle since 1996. Primarily a musician, she has performed and co-created a variety of performances.  She has collaborated with many people to bring to life new works of music, theater, and dance.  Some of her favorite people to work with include Amy Denio and the Hells Bellows Accordion Quartet, clown and puppeteer Jenelle Weidlich, and the good people of the UMO Ensemble.

Arcane Flame’s

You will entrance your eyes and essence on a mystic performance by the members of Arcane Flame’s inner circle. Fire Show is one of the most epic performance acts.

Fire performance will include multiple performers with dreamy bouts of fire dance. Including poi, staff, hoops, fans, torches, and an explosive fire sword battle.  We look forward to exhibiting the magical element of fire.

Fire and Ice Theme show merges Glowing LED Costumes and Fire Dancing for a unique visual experience.
