Ordinary Time is a new group of photographs by Austin-based artist Elijah Barrett. In this work, ordinary subjects in their simplicity, in their disquiet, in their wistfulness, become halting-places for contemplating the transcendent.
Ordinary Time is a new group of photographs by Austin-based artist Elijah Barrett. In this work, ordinary subjects—a rose vine climbing along an old wooden fence; a young man exhaling from a cigarette; a loose tangle of electrical cable overhead—in their simplicity, in their disquiet, in their wistfulness, become “stations” or halting-places for contemplating the transcendent. The exhibition features 12 photographs, in color and black and white.
