Assist Young Adults with Disabilities as they learn Filmmaking
Overview:
VSA Texas is hosting a Side by Side opportunity for young adults with developmental disabilities ages 15-22 to work with professional artists in the filmmaking industry through classroom settings, hands-on experience, on-location work and a final short film.
Volunteers are needed to assist the filmmakers in the classroom by assisting the students as they learn film skills, providing one to one support to the students and other duties as required. Volunteers will work within the small groups as they write, record and edit a film.
June 15-19, 2015: Students will meet as a group to learn basic film skills through lectures and hands on exercises. The next two weeks, June 22- July 3, 2015, the small groups will meet at various locations including the classroom, the studio, and on-location filming sites to make a short film. There will be a Real to Reel Film Showcase on Sunday, July 12, 2015.
