BERLIN: ZVIZDAL [CHERNOBYL – SO FAR SO CLOSE]

BERLIN: ZVIZDAL [CHERNOBYL – SO FAR SO CLOSE]

Presented by Fusebox Festival at The Long Center: Debra & Kevin Rollins Studio Theatre

The Long Center and Fusebox present Berlin: Zvizdal [Chernobyl – so far so close], February 8 – 10 in Rollins Studio Theatre, in partnership with Austin Film Society.

Occupying a unique space in the performing arts, Belgium-based company Berlin blends film, performance, and installation to reimagine the audience’s experience of live cinema. Berlin’s Zvizdal [Chernobyl – so far so close] sources five years of journalistic research to craft the story of Pétro and Nadia, two 80-year-olds who refuse to leave their homestead in the Chernobyl evacuation zone. Integrating documentary film, image, music, technology, and text, Zvizdal unearths the entanglement of solitude, poverty, hope, and humor at the edge of a disappearing world.

This presentation marks the second year of our new partnership with Fusebox to bring unforgettable live experiences from around the world to Austin.
