Sponsored by KAZI Book Review and cosponsored by the Austin Central Library, The Third Annual Celebration of Diverse Literary Voices of Texas kicks off its Black History Month Celebration with a discussion with Leonard Pitt, Jr. about his new black historical novel set in World War II, THE LAST THING YOU SURRENDER. His new historical page-turner is a great American tale of race and war, following three characters from the Jim Crow South as they face the enormous changes World War II triggers in the United States.
On Saturday, February 23, the Celebration of Diverse Literary Voices of Texas continues with a day of author panels from 10:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. It will open with a Black History Month discussion of BARRACOON: The Story of the Last Black Cargo by Zora Neale Hurston. There will also be author discussions of Latinx literature, voter suppression, violence against marginalized groups, and immigration. To register for the Saturday event go to https://bit.ly/2FW0G73.
