Inspired by Euripides’ The Women of Troy, The Women of _______ (a song not song) invites the audience to join nameless ghosts on a multilingual journey through poems and tales.
The Women of _______ (a song not song) is inspired by Euripides’ The Women of Troy, a tragedy in which the Trojan women mourn their fates after their husbands are killed and Troy burns. The play invites the audience to join a group of nameless ghosts on a multilingual journey through poems and tales, to restore dead memories, to trace linguistic and cultural annihilation and to speak for the silenced voices in history. As a partially-devised work collecting the voices of historically marginalized people, the play explores trauma, political wars and our personal battles against ourselves.

Tickets for preview performances are $10 for adults and University of Texas at Austin faculty/staff and $5 for students. Students must present a valid I.D. at the time of purchase. Tickets for preview performances may only be purchased in person at Texas Performing Arts or the F. Loren Winship Drama Building Box Offices. Tickets are $26 for adults, $21 for University of Texas at Austin faculty/staff and $15 for students. Students (including high school and students of other universities) must present a valid student I.D. at the time of purchase. Prices do not include processing fees.
