Enjoy music by German and Austrian “Meisters of Musik” during the Austin Civic Orchestra’s annual performance at Southwestern University on February 2 at 7:30 p.m.
The program includes Don Giovanni Overture by Mozart, Clarinet Concerto No. 2 by Weber, Flying Dutchman Overture by Wagner, and Symphony No. 1 by Beethoven. Plus, the orchestra will present the Southwest premiere of a major unpublished concert aria by Felix Mendelssohn, Recitative and Aria, Infelice, MWV H4 (1834). Come early for a pre-concert talk about the music at 6:45 p.m.
This concert is part of the orchestra’s Destination: Europe season which runs through June with a stop in Russia as well as a look toward the future with the annual Texas Rising Stars performance at the University of Texas and two free pops concerts in Zilker Park. $0-15. Tickets for the performance are $15 for adults and $10 for seniors, members of the military, and college students. As always, admission is free for youth (18 years old and younger).
