JOB SUMMARY
This position oversees the cost effectiveness and planning of the entire production process for our professional and academy theatre productions totaling approximately 20 productions per year.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Production Responsibilities
• Establishing the production calendar for TexARTS (professional and academy productions) including rehearsals and performances.
• Securing required facilities for rehearsals and performances
• Securing the rights to present the productions
•Creating & seeking opportunities throughout the year to fill the theater during lulls in the production schedule (i.e. parties, meeting space, community events).
Fulfilling the Company Manager Role
• Responsible for negotiating employment contracts in all aspects of production as well as filing the appropriate paperwork
• Oversees design and implementation/construction of sets
• Manages the volunteer needs including painters, builders, carpenters, etc
Responsible for hiring production personnel, setting expectations, auditing, and evaluating performance to expectations
• Holds production meetings to drive the production plan and rehearsal process, communicates with the staff and appropriate audiences
• Has a working knowledge of sound board and lighting board operation
• Budgets and reports the financial accounting of the show’s expenses and revenues
Qualifications
• A minimum of three years’ experience in theatre production or stage management, preferably with a nonprofit
• Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
• Ability to multitask, plan and prioritize workflow, and meet deadlines
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to perform in a small, team environment, while working independently
• Must possess integrity and great customer focus
Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience.
A degree in Theatre design/production, Technical Theatre, or Stage Management is a plus, but not necessary.
