COTFG Presents: A Point on a Slow Curve

COTFG Presents: A Point on a Slow Curve

Presented by COTFG at Museum of Human Achievement

Mother Octopus (Dana Lyn, Clara Kennedy, Mike McGinnis, Vinnie Sperrazza and Ty Citerman) collaborates with Austin-based singers Leah Hollingshead, Keely Rhodes, Adrienne Pedrotti and Page Stephens.

“A Point on a Slow Curve” is inspired by the creation of visual artist Jay DeFeo’s most celebrated painting, “The Rose.” Her sole focus from 1958 to 1966, The Rose bloomed into a one-ton monument–a marriage between sculpture and paint. After she was evicted from apartment, rendering DeFeo bereft and her painting homeless, The Rose was put in storage for 25 years, entombed and eventually forgotten. It was finally bought and restored by the Whitney Museum in 1995, six years after DeFeo’s death.

POSC is being made possible by the American Composers Forum with funds provided by the Jerome Foundation, COTFG, and the City of Austin Cultural Arts Division.

Additional performances include:
