(UN)ROOTED An ecclectic performance on the themes of orphanage and identity
(UN)ROOTED is an evening-length performance opening the discussion on the deep need for belonging, roots, pairs and marks, inherent to human kind.
We all endlessly search for our family, our roots, our origins.
We all experience various degrees of orphanage, dealing with the different cycles of life.
We all want to be part of something, part of the group, part of society, part of the whole.
(UN)ROOTED explores the process that we engage ourselves into when looking for our own roots, such as struggle, entanglement or rejection, and how to find peace within ourselves, no matter the outcome.
In this evening performance, moving bodies, sounds, text and lights will respond to this subject using the techniques of free improvisation to engage performers and audience into a spontaneous exchange. Composed of 3 pieces that will last between 15 and 30 minutes each, the show will be followed by a Q&A to discuss the process behind the elaboration of this performance and open the floor to deepen the discussion with the audience and special guests.

ABOUT Corps Multiple, the first and only artistic company created by French artists in Austin, TX:
We create researched experimental scenic improvisations, based on intimate experiences from people around us, as well as human psychology and behavior. We strive to develop artistic evenings crossing genres and disciplines to produce eclectic, spontaneous and intriguing contemporary works in order to touch the senses, emotions and thoughts of the audience.
Our project is to:
-Provide a hub for artists and the public to practice free improvisation; Educate the community on the art of improvisation, collaboration, creation and performance.
– Share a spontaneous and genuine performance by working with the community beforehand and opening the discussion and the floor during the performances.
-Offer improvisation sessions focused on listening, adapting and interacting with the participant’s senses and environment, exploring ways of expression and creativity through sound, movement and collaboration, where everyone is equal, as there is no leader.
This is our very first project and we are honored to premiere at The VORTEX.
